Date: Wednesday November 6 2019
Programme:
19:00 – Doors open
19:30 – Start of programme
This is a combined Parent & Professional Forum Meeting.
Presenter: Dr. Ute Limacher-Riebold
Topic: Multilingual children & International childhood
Children who grow up in an international environment have the unique opportunity to immerse into different cultures, learn several languages, and appreciate diversity – but they also face more change during their developmental years (0-18) than average adults in their whole lifetime. From a very early stage on, they get used to switch back and forth between their home languages and cultures and the community of school languages and cultures on a daily basis.
In her presentation, Ute Limacher-Riebold will answer the following questions:
- What impact does an international childhood have on our childrens’ lives?
- How can we best support them cope with the many changes, transitions and goodbyes?
- How can we support them with becoming (and staying) bi- and multilingual?
Dr. Ute Limacher-Riebold is a multilingual Language Consultant and Intercultural Communication Trainer at Ute’s International Lounge. She has lived abroad her whole life and is raising her three children the same way. In her presentation she shares insights into the latest scientific findings, and shares her own experience and the one of her clients.
